Carrie Biemer and Dionte Christmas Capture Big 5 Player of the Week Accolades

 
 

 
Biemer had 22 points and nine rebounds against Columbia

Carrie scored 22 points and snagged a career-high nine rebounds in the Quakers win over Columbia during the weekend. The junior was 9-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line in the win. Against Cornell, the Haddonfield-native was the only Penn player to finish in double figures as she scored 19 points in the 73-58 loss. For the week, she averaged 20.5 points and six rebounds as the Quakers went 1-1 and gained their sixth win of the season. Biemer is the first Quaker to win Big 5 Player of the Week this year.

 

Dionte Christmas, G, Temple

Christmas showed off his exceptional offensive arsenal with a career-high 37 points in the Owls victory over Duquesne last week. In the Big 5 finale against La Salle, Dionte scored 19 points and added five rebounds, three steals to help Temple secure a share of the Philadelphia Big 5 title along with Villanova. The championship is the 25th for the University which is the most out of the Big 5 schools. For the week, he averaged 28 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2.5 steals while going 2-0. Dionte was also named National Player of the Week by ESPN.com
