March 13, 2008
Senior Darnell Harris had 21 points in La Salle's 82-79 win over Duquesne in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament. Twelve of those twenty-one points came courtesy of a 4-of-7 three-point effort from the Baltimore-native and Darnell passed former-Villanova sharpshooter Gary Buchanan for the Philadelphia Big 5 record for treys made when he converted the 338th triple of his great Explorer career. Those threes could not have come at a better time as La Salle needed everyone one of them to beat the Dukes in Atlantic City last night. The win gives Harris an opportunity to build on that record tonight as the Explorers will face Temple in the conference tournament quarterfinals. This game provides La Salle with an opportunity to avenge an 85-66 loss they suffered to the Owls at Tom Gola Arena on Senior Day. Darnell already holds the school and conference three-point records. |
