Darnell Harris Wins 3-Point Shootout Against Nation's Best

 
 

 
Darnell owns Big 5 record for most 3-pointers made

SAN ANTONIO- Some of the top players in the country gathered in San Antonio, Texas to take part in the 20th annual State Farm 3-Point Shooting Contest held at St. Mary's University. La Salle senior Darnell Harris was rightfully among them and made his claim for being one of the best shooters in the country.

 

The Baltimore-native defeated Chris Lofton of Tennessee in the final round, 16-10, to win the contest and take home first place. Harris scored 19 and 17 points in the first two rounds to advance to the final period and beat Lofton, who is third all-time in NCAA history for made triples.

 

Other participants in the contest included Drew Neitzel of Michigan State, Brian Roberts of Dayton, A.J. Graves of Butler, and Derrick Low of Washington State among others. Previous winners include Steve Novak of Marquette, Steve Nash of Santa Clara, and Wesley Person of Auburn.

 

Darnell holds the Big 5 record for most 3-pointers made during a career with 432. He converted 132 treys this year while hitting at a 47.9% clip, good for fourth in the nation.
